Japan considers historic policy change to allow military exports

Changes in the rules of military exports in Japan may become a historic moment, and its involvement in joint processes to protect democracy will be absolutely appropriate. This was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov during a telethon on Thursday, a correspondent of UNN reports.

Historically, after the Second World War, Japan adopted domestic legislation that prohibited any export of Japanese-made weapons... Now we are at a historic moment when Japan will return to this market. I am more than sure that Japan will make the appropriate decision, and at the legislative level they will resolve the issue of Japanese weapons being in other countries of the world

- Danilov said.

He noted that Japan is a very powerful industrial country.

"It's a country with great industrial potential, and involving it in joint processes to protect democracy will be absolutely appropriate," Danilov said.

Addendum

The Washington Post reportedthat Japan is preparing a major policy shift in its military export rules that would allow it to export several dozen Patriot missiles to Washington. In turn, the United States will be able to send more air defense equipment to Ukraine.
