Irakli Kobakhidze will take part in the inauguration of Iranian President Massoud Peseshkian. Peseshkian, a 70-year-old cardiac surgeon, won early elections after the death of the previous president in a plane crash.

Kobakhidze is accompanied on the trip by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili.
The ceremony will be attended by 70 foreign delegations.

Early presidential elections in two rounds were held in Iran after Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi died in a plane crash on May 19. In the second round on June 28, Paezeshkian defeated a member of the Political Expediency Council, Saeed Jalili.
Pezeshkian is from the city of Mehabad and is 70 years old. He is a cardiac surgeon by profession, and for several years he was the head of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. He entered politics in the late 90s of the last century, and in different years held the positions of deputy minister and minister of health. Then he was a member of the Iranian parliament.
Peseshkian has previously tried to become president of Iran twice. In 2013, he registered for the election, but later withdrew his candidacy. In 2021, his candidacy was rejected by the Guardian Council of the Constitution. In 2024, he managed to run for the presidency and won.
