70 kg of cannabis was found in the house of Jamila Habsawi, the mayor of the French city of Avallon, during a search conducted by gendarmes as part of an operation to combat drug trafficking.

According to the TV channel, the operation was part of a campaign to combat drug trafficking. Avalon gendarmes found the cache in the outbuilding of Habsawi's house. Earlier, law enforcement officers discovered her brothers' connection to the trade in illegal substances.

Merka was detained but later released. A total of seven people were detained in the case, including the two Habsawi brothers.

According to BFMTV, the anti-drug operation, dubbed "Clean Space XXL," was launched in Avallon after President Emmanuel Macron's surprise visit to the city in mid-March. A total of 75 gendarmes took part in the operation.
