Ukrainian children found themselves in unbearable conditions at a summer camp in Spain, living in plastic tents without access to water, food, and hygiene products.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, reported that Ukrainian children in the STAR TIME children's camp in Spain were living in unbearable conditions. During the visit of a representative of the Ukrainian embassy, it was found that children live in inadequate conditions, in particular, in plastic tents at high temperatures without access to drinking water, food or hygiene products. He reported this in his Telegram channel, UNN writes.
My Representative in the Kingdom of Spain, Lucia Zadorozhna, received complaints from children who were in the STAR TIME children's camp organized by Ukrainians. Together with the Consul of Ukraine in Málaga, Lucia Zadorozhna made a monitoring visit to the camp. It turned out that the children were living in premises with violations of sanitary standards, without access to toilets, drinking water, food and hygiene products. The children were placed in plastic tents, which are unhealthy because of the high temperature, which made them sick
According to him, the administration did not respond to calls from frightened parents in Ukraine for a day. The owner of the camp promised to fix all the shortcomings, but this did not happen! The complaining children were pressured and threatened with eviction.
After the local police arrived, the owner told the parents that he was no longer responsible for the children and they could take them away. He threatened to "throw" the children out of the camp and forcefully take all those who were not happy to the airport. The parents paid about 2 thousand euros per child for the camp, so that the children could rest from air raids and shelling. Instead, they became hostages of unscrupulous organizers!
The Ombudsperson appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to instruct the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Spain to take all necessary measures to protect children's rights. In particular, he emphasized the need to appeal to local authorities and law enforcement agencies for a proper response to ensure that children are safe and that similar cases do not recur in the future.
