The man offered employment for a senior position in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 60 thousand dollars, posing as a relative of the minister. The fraudster was detained while receiving a $10,000 advance and sentenced to 7 years in prison.

A Ukrainian man who promised to employ a senior position in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for $60,000 was sentenced to 7 years in prison. The man posed as a relative of the former minister.

Details

The convict, a former resident of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, moved to Kyiv and spread information about his alleged family ties to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and offered assistance in finding employment in senior positions.

In August 2021, he offered his acquaintance the position of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department for $60,000, of which he demanded $10,000 in advance. However, the man did not intend to transfer this money.

In February 2022, the fraudster was detained in Kyiv while receiving money. He was in custody awaiting a court verdict. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Department of the National Police in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol with the support of the Internal Security Department of the National Police.
