As the spokesman reported, in April the IRGC detained a number of vessels and sailors in the Strait of Hormuz, "among which was the container ship Epimonidas, on board of which were four Ukrainian citizens - crew members."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in particular the Department of Consular Service and the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece, according to him, "immediately identified the Ukrainian sailors and maintained contact with their families, the Greek shipowner company and the involved parties to protect our people and find ways for their return."
Since then, he noted, "active and persistent work of the Ukrainian side with all relevant institutions and parties continued."
Now we are pleased to report that these efforts have yielded a positive result. Four of our citizens have already left the territory of Iran. They are now safe with their families. Their health condition is satisfactory
The Foreign Ministry spokesman expressed gratitude to fellow diplomats from partner countries, representatives of the shipowner company, and everyone who contributed to the return of our sailors.
"This is an unchanging principle of the Ukrainian diplomatic service: Ukraine does not abandon its people," he emphasized.
