Foreign ministry on THAAD: discussion of different types of air defense systems for Ukraine continues

The Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine confirmed negotiations with partners on various air defense systems, including THAAD. In communication with partners, there are no prohibited topics regarding the types of weapons.
Ukraine is negotiating with its partners on the supply of various types of air defense systems. Currently, there are no taboo topics in communication with partners, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tihy said during a briefing on Friday, the correspondent of UNN reports.

"As for other air defense systems, in fact, there are no taboo topics in communicating with our partners regarding the types of weapons and systems that can be transferred to Ukraine. Therefore, there is a discussion of different types of these systems that can be transferred," Tihy said, answering a question about the possible supply of THAAD air defense systems to Ukraine.

Military analyst Fabian Hoffmann denied claims that it was impossible to intercept a new Russian missile after the Russian Federation announced the launch of the oreshnik. The SM-3, Arrow 3 and THAAD systems can shoot down its warheads, although this requires significant costs, Hoffman said.
