Russian troops continue to target Kupiansk in Kharkiv region because of its strategic value as a potential springboard for an offensive to the west.

The Russian occupiers have not abandoned their intentions to attack Kupyansk in Kharkiv region, as the city could become a springboard for a further offensive to the west. This was announced by the head of the public relations service of the Land Forces Command, Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Fitio, during a telethon, UNN reports.

Details

The enemy has not abandoned its intentions to attack the city of Kupyansk. Active hostilities in this area began in early October and continue to this day. Over the past day, nine enemy attacks were repelled in this area near Sinkivka

- said Fitio.

According to him, the enemy is trying to capture Sinkivka to create a further foothold for an offensive directly on the city of Kupyansk.

Kupyansk is an important logistics center and could become a further springboard for an offensive to the west toward non-occupied Ukraine. In addition, we see that the enemy is now moving reserves of assault battalions there and thus trying to compensate for the losses it suffers there. The losses there are quite serious

 - noted Fitio.
