Following the DR Congo, Uganda confirms a new Ebola virus outbreak

Uganda has recorded an outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus linked to a case from the DR Congo. The patient died in the hospital, and contact tracing is currently underway.

Uganda's Ministry of Health has confirmed an Ebola outbreak in the country. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

According to the ministry, the outbreak is linked to the Bundibugyo strain. Authorities specified that this is an imported case of infection from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The patient died on May 14 in the intensive care unit after developing hemorrhagic symptoms. Other details regarding the patient or potential contacts have not yet been released.
The Ministry of Health stated that epidemiological services have already begun contact tracing and measures to contain the outbreak.
