A Ukrainian tried to illegally enter Moldova by swimming across the Dniester on an air mattress, but was rescued by border guards.

The Ukrainian tried to swim across the flooded Dniester and illegally enter Moldova, but border guards prevented the violation, and a boat of the State Border Guard Service saved the "swimmer" from an accident, UNN reports citing the press service of the agency.

The offender was sailing to Moldova on an inflatable mattress

- the statement reads.

The Ukrainian was trying to get to neighboring Moldova on an air mattress. According to the State Border Guard Service, neither the fast current nor the flooding of the Dniester stopped the "swimmer" from making this decision.

However, in order to prevent a border violation and an accident, a border patrol boat was sent to the fugitive.

As it turned out later, the coordinators of the offender's river "trip" were businessmen from one of the messengers: they provided recommendations on how to use the mattress and where to put the phone and a change of clothes. For this, they asked for 4 thousand euros. The man had already paid half of the money in advance.

The offender was brought to administrative responsibility. The case will be considered by the court.
