Farion's murder: prosecutors to request arrest for suspect

The prosecutor's office will insist on keeping the 18-year-old suspect in the murder of Irina Farion in custody without bail. A notice of suspicion of premeditated murder is being prepared against the detainee.

The prosecutor's office will insist on applying a preventive measure of detention without the possibility of bail to the 18-year-old suspect in the murder of linguist Iryna Farion. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office to UNN.

"We will ask for detention without bail," the prosecutor's office said.

At present, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the detainee is being served a notice of suspicion of premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and the issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.

 On July 19, an unknown person shot at Iryna Farion, a linguist and professor at Lviv Polytechnic. The woman was taken to the hospital with a head wound in an extremely serious condition. Iryna Farion died in the hospital.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on July 25, an 18-year-old manwas detained in Dnipro city, allegedly involved in the premeditated murder of Iryna Farion.

According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, law enforcement officers have enough evidence to claimthat it was an 18-year-old man detained in Dnipro who shot at linguist Iryna Farion. According to him, the investigation lasted 139 hours.

The police reported earlier that they had several versions of the murder of linguist Irina Farion, including public, political activity and personal animosity. Law enforcement officers found a shell casing after the shooting and do not rule out a "Russian trace" in the crime.
