Exchange rate as of July 18: hryvnia continues to devalue

The NBU set the official hryvnia exchange rate at 41.4627 UAH/USD, devaluing it by 21 kopecks. This is a new historical low. The euro exchange rate was set at 45.34 UAH/euro.

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official hryvnia exchange rate at 41.4627 UAH/USD, which devalued the hryvnia by 21 kopecks, UNN reports citing NBU data.

Details

The official dollar exchange rate is 41.46 UAH/USD, which is a new historical low for the hryvnia. The NBU also set the official euro to hryvnia exchange rate at 45.34 UAH/€.

According to the data on specialized websites, as of 9:15 am:

  • The dollar can be bought for UAH 41.65 and sold for UAH 41.15 in banks. The euro can be bought at UAH 45.75 and sold at UAH 45.00 in banks. 
  • In exchange offices, the dollar is traded at UAH 41.75-41.90, and the euro at UAH 45.64-45.85. 
  • On the interbank market, the exchange rates are UAH 41.47-41.49 for the dollar and UAH 45.36-45.48 for the euro, respectively.

Recall

As of July 1, 2024, Ukraine had UAH 800.9 billion of cash in circulation, which is UAH 36.5 billion more than at the beginning of the year. This is due to seasonal factors as well as power outages, which encourage people to have a certain amount of cash.
