I welcome the extension of roaming between the EU and Ukraine for another year. In times of war, a telephone line is a lifeline connecting people seeking refuge in Europe with those left behind at the front. We support the people of Ukraine
According to a statement from the European Commission, this is the fifth extension of a voluntary agreement between 22 European and 7 Ukrainian telecom operators to provide refugees from Ukraine with communications.
Operators continue to offer free SIM cards, free international calls to Ukraine, and packages that can be used in the host country.

It is also noted that in parallel, Ukraine is working to fully harmonize its legislation with EU legislation in order to integrate into the EU roaming area. After Ukraine notifies the EU of its full accession, which is expected in the coming months, the European Commission will assess the compliance of national legislation. Subject to a positive assessment approved by the Member States and a final decision by the EU-Ukraine Association Committee, Ukraine will become part of the EU roaming area.
