Ukrainian intelligence identified four crew members of the downed Tu-22M3 bomber. Two of them survived the ejection, two were killed. The plane was shot down at a distance of 308 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

The Main Intelligence Directorate managed to identify war criminals from among the crew of the Tu-22M3 bomber destroyed in April this year. This was reported by the press service of the GUR, UNN reported.

Details

According to the GUR, on the night of April 19, a formation of Tu-22M3 aircraft took off from Mozdok airport. Subsequently, they reached the missile launch area near the village of Kushchevskaya in the Krasnodar Territory. They fired X-22 missiles at Ukraine, in particular at the Dnipro River, turned around and took the opposite course. The GUR reported that one of the planes, which had the tail number 11, did not reach the airfield and crashed near the village of bogomolov in the stavropol region of russia.

The aircraft belonged to the 52nd heavy bomber regiment (military unit 33310, shaykovka air base, kaluga region, rf). The said regiment is a part of the 22nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Division of the Long-Range Aviation Command of the russian Aerospace Forces

- the DIU noted.

The DIU emphasized that the aircraft, which is capable of carrying nuclear weapons, was the biggest loss of Russian aviation in the war and the biggest success of the Defense Forces.

The plane was hit quite far away, at a distance of 308 kilometers. Let's just say that the fruitful and long work is paying off. This is the same technique and the same means that we used when we destroyed the A50 aircraft in the air. This is the first downing of a long-range aircraft in this war

- Kirill Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, told the BBC at the time.

Budanov also said that the plane had been "hunted" for a week.

For a week we were, let's say, ambushed. We were waiting for him to reach the right milestone

- Budanov said.

Subsequently, Ukraine's military intelligence established the names and details of four war criminals from the crew of the downed russian Tu-22M3 bomber:

  • The ship's commander is kolesnikov serhiy anatolievich, deputy squadron commander for military and political work, major, personal number e-199209, lives in shaykovka, house 7, apartment 55, divorced, has a daughter;

  • navigator-operator of the squadron - andriy oleksandrovych hrushanin, senior lieutenant, personal number MT-498741, divorced, no children. Liquidated along with the TU-22M3 aircraft on April 19, 2024.
