Bribery case against the head of Sumy MBA: one of the deputies of the regional council was sent to custody

Two deputies of the Sumy Regional Council were detained for attempting to bribe the head of the Sumy City Military Administration in the amount of $100,000 for merging two medical institutions and appointing one of them as head of the merged hospital.
The HACC investigating judge sent one of the deputies suspected of attempting to bribe the head of the Sumy MVA to custody until May 24, UNN reports citing the SAPO.
On March 28, 2024, the HACC investigating judge considered and partially granted the motion of NABU detectives, agreed by the SAPO prosecutor, to apply a preventive measure to one of the deputies of the Sumy Regional Council

The court imposed on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention until 05/24/2024 inclusive.
Despite the fact that in the motion the prosecutor requested bail in the amount of UAH 10 million, the investigating judge applied bail to the suspect in the amount of UAH 3 million 28 thousand.
After reviewing the full text of the court decision, the issue of appealing it will be decided.

As previously reported, the deputies offered USD 100,000 to the head of the Sumy City Military Administration for merging two medical institutions, which would increase funding, and for retaining one of the persons who provided the unlawful benefit as the head of the merged hospital. In addition, the individuals promised to provide military administration officials with 10-20% of the allocated budget funding for the newly created medical institution.
The deputies were detained red-handed immediately after they provided the first installment of the agreed funds - $50,000.
