Bribe for rent in the capital's Natalka Park: former head of the UDAR party in Odesa region is put under arrest

The court arrested the former head of the UDAR party in Odesa region for extortion of a $1 million bribe. Oleksandr Sukhanov was detained while receiving $900 thousand for assistance in obtaining a land plot in Natalka Park.
Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv remanded Oleksandr Sukhanov, the former head of Vitali Klitschko's UDAR party in Odesa region, in custody with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 37 million. UNN reports this with reference to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
"At the request of the SBU investigators and prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 37 million on the lawyer detained while receiving USD 900,000 for resolving a land issue with Kyiv officials," the statement said.
The prosecutor's office reminded that, according to the investigation, a lawyer from Odesa region told the capital's businessman that he had connections in the Kyiv City Council and could help with the lease of a 0.5-hectare plot of land in Natalka Park for a period of 25 years. He estimated the solution to this issue at USD 1 million.
In the course of controlling the commission of the crime, the lawyer was detained immediately after receiving USD 900 thousand from the company's director.

One of the leaders of a well-known party, who demanded USD 1 million for solving "land issues" in KCSA, was detained and notified of suspicion in Kyiv. Law enforcement officers are conducting searches at KCSA's offices.
As UNN has learned from a source in law enforcement, it is the head of Vitali Klitschko's UDAR party in Odesa region , Oleksandr Sukhanov.
On December 26, Vitali Klitschko's UDAR party stated that Sukhanov had indeed been accepted into the party's local regional organization several months ago.
"This person has already been expelled from the party, and the history of his inclusion in the party ranks by the Odesa organization of UDAR will be checked in detail," the statement reads.
