Asma al-Assad, the wife of the former Syrian dictator, is isolated due to a relapse of leukemia. She has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and is not allowed to contact other people.

Asma, the wife of former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, who fled to Moscow, is seriously ill with leukemia. This was reported by The Telegraph, according to UNN.

Details

According to the newspaper, citing its own sources, Asma al-Assad was isolated to avoid transmitting infectious diseases to her - she has had a relapse of blood cancer. She is not allowed to be in the same room with other people.

"Asma is dying. She can't be in the same room with anyone," the sources said.

It is also noted that she had previously been treated for breast cancer and in August 2019 announced that she was "completely" free of the disease after a year of treatment. In May 2024, the Assad administration announced that the dictator's wife had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, an aggressive cancer of the bone marrow and blood.

The publication notes that Assad's wife arrived in Moscow for treatment long before the Kremlin convinced her husband to flee after the rebel offensive.

Recall

The former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad secretly fled to Moscow after the rebels overthrew the regime. He took out about $135 billion, but left a collection of luxury cars in Damascus.

The media reportedthat Asma al-Assad has filed a request with a Russian court for permission to leave Moscow and plans to divorce her husband. Also, according to media reports, the former Syrian dictator is under strict surveillance in Russia, and his assets have been frozen.

The Kremlin saidthat the wife of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Asma al-Assad, has no plans to divorce.
