A Russian court has arrested the captain of the Volganeft-212 tanker that crashed in the Kerch Strait. The arrest will last until February 17, 2025, due to violations of safety rules that led to the death of a crew member.

A Russian court has arrested the captain of the Volganeft-212 tanker that crashed in the Kerch Strait for two months, UNN reports citing Krym.Realii.
"At the request of the investigation, the captain of the oil tanker Volganeft-212, accused of violating the rules of safety and operation of maritime transport, which resulted in the death of a crew member (Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code), was imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 2 months until February 17, 2025," the statement said.

On December 15, two Russian oil tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, were shipwrecked by a storm in the Kerch Strait.
