A seminar was held at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve to introduce a new system for recording immovable cultural heritage sites, the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.
According to our data, as of December 31, 2022, including monuments in the occupied territories, 144,643 objects need to be included in the register. This is a considerable number, given that not only the names but also the accompanying information about each of these objects must be entered. However, the work has begun. And as of today, local state administrations have entered data on 105,532 objects
The registry contains a database with an accessible interface where architectural, historical, and archaeological objects are entered. Each monument in the registry has a separate office, which will be updated at two levels - by regional state administrations and cultural heritage protection bodies, as well as by the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
The "State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine" includes cultural heritage sites that the state officially recognizes as "subject to protection" regardless of their ownership.
