Rescuers received a report of a fire in a residential building on Bako Gabor Street at 7:26 am. The fire was reported by the owner, who noticed dense smoke in one of the rooms of the building.

"As it turned out, the kind-hearted owner had set up a shelter for animals, so the woman and her friend were rescuing cats and dogs until the arrival of the SES units. Unfortunately, 19 cats that were in the room that became the center of the fire died. Another 40 furry animals were rescued," the SES reported.

The firefighters who arrived at the scene, as indicated, extinguished the fire in less than 5 minutes over an area of 2 square meters. "The cause was most likely an ultraviolet lamp hanging on the wall above the upholstered furniture," the SES said.
