The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on and approve a large aid package to Ukraine and other U.S. allies worth $95 billion, of which $61 billion is earmarked for Ukraine, after the House of Representatives passed it with bipartisan support.

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on a major aid package for Ukraine on Tuesday, almost certainly after the House of Representatives - after months of debate - approved the aid with broad bipartisan support, UNN reports citing AFP.

Senate Majority Democrat Chuck Schumer, whose party controls the chamber, said on Saturday that the "finish line is in sight" for the aid package and that the deal is "locked in" for a vote on Tuesday.

"The task before us is urgent. It is the Senate's turn to make history again," said Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

The package, which includes a whopping $95 billion in total military aid to US allies, including money for Israel and Taiwan, as well as $61 billion earmarked for Ukraine, is expected to reach US President Joe Biden's desk for his approval by the end of the week.

Biden promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in a phone call on Monday that Kyiv could expect aid to arrive "quickly.

Voting in the Senate is expected to go more smoothly, without having to deal with the complicated negotiations and disagreements that have plagued the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
