Ukraine has never directed any drones toward Latvia. However, Kyiv is ready to apologize if it is confirmed that these were Ukrainian drones intentionally diverted from their course and directed toward Latvia by Russian electronic warfare systems. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, after telephone negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže, reports UNN.
We are in close contact with Latvia regarding the recent drone incidents, and our competent authorities are exchanging information to ascertain all the circumstances of the events. If it is confirmed that these were Ukrainian drones intentionally diverted from their course and directed toward Latvia by Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems, we will express our sincere apologies to our Latvian friends. I can state with full confidence: Ukraine has never directed any drones toward Latvia
According to him, Kyiv has already expressed its apologies to all three Baltic countries – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania – as well as Finland – for unintentional incidents caused by the redirection of Ukrainian drones by Russian EW systems.
Our specialized institutions are working closely together to minimize the risks of such cases recurring
