The United Arab Emirates has agreed to allocate billions of dollars to Iran as part of efforts to reduce regional tensions. This was reported by Reuters, citing four unnamed sources, according to UNN.
Details
The publication notes that this is a tactical move following weeks of Iranian attacks on the "wealthy Gulf Arab state during the war between the US and Israel with the Islamic Republic."
Information about this move... coincides with the final stages of broader negotiations between Tehran and Washington to end the war, negotiations which diplomats say could include the release of tens of billions of dollars in Iranian oil revenues frozen in foreign banks due to US sanctions
It is indicated that the UAE agreed to allocate a total of $10 billion, more than $3 billion of which has already been provided. Two other sources estimated the total amount at $20 billion, adding that the move was agreed upon in exchange for a cessation of Iranian attacks on the UAE.
At the same time, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically denied this information, stating that "these allegations are completely false and unfounded," and that "no frozen Iranian funds have been released, transferred, or used through the UAE."
Reminder
The day before, US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of strikes against Iran, which he had spoken of several hours earlier, as the "final points" of the agreement had been approved.
