U.S. President Donald Trump has once again criticized Canada, posting an AI-generated image of a giant air filter along the shared border, supposedly intended to protect the U.S. from wildfire smoke. This was reported by The Independent, as cited by UNN.
Details
In the published image, the structure resembles the wall on the border with Mexico that Trump promoted during his 2016 presidential campaign. Next to the structure is the inscription "North American Air Filter" and the slogan "Clean air. Clear borders."
At the same time, the publication noted that due to a likely AI generation error, the image shows equally clear blue skies on both sides of the "filter."
Trump threatens Canada with new tariffs
According to The Independent, this week Trump has already imposed 50% tariffs on a number of Canadian goods, accusing Ottawa of "discriminating" against American trade.
Furthermore, he threatened new tariffs over the smoke from massive wildfires in Canada, which has blanketed several U.S. cities, including Detroit, New York, and Washington.
We are going to impose a big tariff on Canada because of the smoke
The Independent also recalls that after winning the 2024 presidential election, Trump has repeatedly made provocative statements about the possible annexation of Canada as the 51st state.
