A scheme for illegal border crossing from Ukraine has been exposed in Kyiv. Men were "helped" to enter EU countries through Belarus for $10,000, UNN reports with reference to the Kyiv prosecutor's office.
Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, a man was notified of suspicion who promised to organize a pedestrian crossing of the state border with Belarus for conscripts.
It was established that a 32-year-old native of Cherkasy region, together with accomplices, helped men get to EU countries through Belarus. The "client" from Kyiv was to be taken through checkpoints to the north of Kyiv region, as close as possible to the border, where his belongings were sent by mail. There, using a programmed GPS device, which contained all the route coordinates, the man could navigate in the forest without mobile communication and cross the border. He was instructed on the rules of camouflage in the border zone to bypass Ukrainian border guards.
According to the plan, the man could reach EU countries from Belarus. For such services, he had to pay $10,000. The organizer of the scheme was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving half of the specified amount - $5,000.
The detainee was notified of suspicion of organizing illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine, by providing advice, instructions and removing obstacles, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, for mercenary motives (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court applied a preventive measure to the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail.
