A large-scale agrochemical scheme has been exposed in Cherkasy and Mykolaiv regions – counterfeit products with cement were sold under the guise of world brands, UNN reports with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Details
In Cherkasy and Mykolaiv regions, under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office, the activities of organized groups that had established large-scale production and sale of counterfeit plant protection products throughout Ukraine – herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other pesticides – were stopped.
The scheme was documented from May 2025 and had been operating for at least a year. Production and sales were carried out on order. The products were manufactured illicitly in specially equipped premises and branded as well-known brands, including CORTEVA and Corteva Agriscience, the rights to which belong to Corteva Agriscience LLC (USA), as well as other global trademarks.
According to prosecutors, used containers, which were bought from farmers, were used for credibility, but their contents did not correspond to the declared composition. According to the investigation, cement and other harmful components were sometimes added to the mixtures, which could harm soils, crops, and the environment.
The counterfeit products were sold throughout the country to agricultural enterprises and private buyers — via the Internet, including Viber groups and other online resources. Delivery was carried out by postal services or during personal meetings.
