The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who was preparing a terrorist attack in the center of Mykolaiv, reported the SBU on Wednesday, writes UNN.

Counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented another terrorist attack in Mykolaiv. As a result of proactive measures, a Russian agent was detained who was preparing to kill a soldier of the Defense Forces using a homemade bomb. SBU officers detained the perpetrator "in the act" when he was planting explosives under the car of a Ukrainian warrior. As the investigation revealed, the task of the Rashists was carried out by a mobilized person from the Bashtanka district recruited by the enemy

- reported the SBU.

According to the SBU, he came to the attention of Russian intelligence services "when he arbitrarily left a military unit and began looking for 'easy' earnings on Telegram channels."

"After agent instruction, the suspect conducted reconnaissance near the car of the potential 'target' and reported to the curator from Russia about readiness for the terrorist attack. Then the agent received from the Russian intelligence officer the coordinates of a cache, from which he took a homemade explosive device (HED) and then tried to secretly install it under the car of a Ukrainian defender," the SBU said.

In addition, during the documentation of the crime, it was established that the deserter received another task from the enemy – to register Starlink satellite terminals for the Russians, the special service said.

"It was established that initially the offender registered the internet communication device in his own name and provided the relevant details to a curator from the Russian Federation. Subsequently, he attempted to involve his wife and ten drug addicts in the clandestine registration of Starlinks, who agreed to provide their passport data in exchange for a promised payment 'for a dose.' If granted access to the satellite terminals, the enemy planned to use them to adjust missile-bomb, artillery, and drone attacks on the southern front," the SBU stated.

During searches of the detainee, according to reports, a smartphone was seized, from which he coordinated his actions with the curator from the aggressor country. The Starlink he illegally registered has been blocked.

Investigators of the Security Service informed the agent of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law); Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 1 of Art. 258 (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act).

The offender is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
