Sufficient grounds for dismissal: MP on the Prosecutor General's failure to appear in the Verkhovna Rada and disrespect for voters

A sufficient reason to dismiss Andriy Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General is that he refused to appear before the Verkhovna Rada on the alleged corruption of his former deputy, Dmytro Verbytskyi. This opinion was expressed by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko to UNN.

"I believe that it is necessary (to remove Kostin - ed.). The reason is that he was summoned by the Verkhovna Rada and did not come. He was obliged to appear.  At the time (when he was summoned - ed.)  they were talking about Verbytskyi, but in fact it is the Prosecutor General who is responsible for fighting crime in the state, he coordinates all this. Unfortunately, we see corruption, corruption cases, and what we saw with his deputy, an absolutely shameful situation with the acquisition of these assets and everything else," Honcharenko said.

The MP believes that these are serious questions that need to be raised with the Prosecutor General.

"So I think these are very serious questions that can and should be asked of him.  I repeat that the fact that he did not appear in the Verkhovna Rada when summoned is already a sufficient reason to dismiss him. It's not about the Verkhovna Rada, it's about respect for Ukrainian voters, it was the people who elected this Verkhovna Rada. The Verkhovna Rada acts on behalf of the people," Honcharenko said.
