Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that a dialogue between Europe and Russia regarding the war in Ukraine could begin in the coming weeks. He said this in an interview with the Finnish broadcaster Yle, as reported by UNN.

According to Stubb, there are currently unofficial signals regarding Moscow's readiness for contact with European countries. He noted that both diplomatic and informal communication channels continue to operate between the parties.
The President of Finland emphasized that Ukraine is now in a stronger position than at any time since the start of the full-scale war, while the United States is largely focused on the situation surrounding Iran.
"I would like Europe to return to negotiations and resume dialogue. If European institutions are unable to do this, a decision will likely be made on July 18 at the European Council summit,"
In his opinion, a potential dialogue format could include the largest European nations—Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy—as well as one of the countries bordering Russia, specifically Poland.
Stubb noted that Europe needs to form an understanding of what Russia's future foreign and security policy will be.
"At some point, dialogue will need to be restored both at the European level and, in Finland's case, at the bilateral level,"
