Spain establishes disembarkation procedure for citizens from the vessel Hondius following hantavirus outbreak

Evacuation has begun following a hantavirus outbreak on the vessel Hondius, where three people died. Repatriation flights to various countries will be completed by tomorrow.

Spanish Health Minister Mónica García stated that all repatriation flights transporting passengers from the liner Hondius, where a hantavirus outbreak was detected, to their home countries will depart by tomorrow, UNN reports citing Sky News.

According to her, two flights will be operated by the Netherlands, with the first departing today. These flights will "pick up" all passengers and crew who were not collected by other countries, she says.

The Minister announced the disembarkation order for citizens from the vessel:

  • Spain;
    • Netherlands (the flight will also transport passengers from Germany, Belgium, and Greece);
      • Turkey;
        • France;
          • United Kingdom;
            • USA.

              The final flight of the operation will transport six people to Australia, García adds.

              It was previously reported that eight people fell ill on board the MV Hondius, three of whom have died.
