During the attack, Romanian aircraft were scrambled, and according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pilots received permission to shoot down aerial targets over Romanian territory.

Following the incident, Romania informed the NATO Secretary General about the situation. Bucharest also appealed to allies with a request to accelerate the transfer of additional anti-drone countermeasures to the country.
Earlier, the Ministry of National Defense of Romania confirmed that a Russian drone violated the country's airspace and crashed into a multi-story residential building in Galați. The strike caused a fire, and two people were injured. This is the first known case where civilians were injured as a result of a Russian drone falling on Romanian territory.
