It is noted that the crews of Philippine and Vietnamese ships blew up a boat with a water cannon and simulated a search and rescue operation during the first joint coast guard exercises of the two countries, which are in a dispute with China over the control of the waters in the South China Sea.
The Vietnamese 90-meter CSB 8002, which arrived in the port of Manila, joined the Philippine maritime patrol vessel BRP Gabriela Silang to simulate firefighting, rescue and medical response exercises.

It is noted that the exercises with Vietnam took place after the Philippines completed a two-day maritime exercise with the military of Australia, Canada and the United States.
