Ivan Vyhivskyi commented for the first time on the killing of police officers in Cherkasy region on January 27. The perpetrator, a former serviceman, set up an ambush and killed law enforcement officers.

The Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, for the first time commented on the murder of police officers in Cherkasy region, which occurred on January 27 during the detention of a suspect in an attempted murder. This crime took place in December 2025 in the Korsun district. This is reported by UNN with reference to the press center of the National Police.

Details

As a result of that crime, the shooter was eliminated; he turned out to be a 59-year-old local resident, a former serviceman who had been discharged from the army.

In a comment to Ukrainian media, Vyhivskyi noted that special forces soldiers with combat experience participated in the special operation. Initially, they communicated calmly with the perpetrator, taking into account his status as a war veteran. But he barricaded himself and did not make contact.

Then the police invited his combat comrades to communicate. However, at that moment, the perpetrator secretly left the homestead and set up an ambush near the road in a wooded area.

As a result of this ambush, law enforcement officers died. But the perpetrator spared one.

In the Uman district of Cherkasy region, an attack on a TCC employee occurred: he was struck in the neck. The victim was hospitalized, and the attacker was detained.

The victim turned out to be a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war - on February 24, 2022, he also took part in hostilities. The knife wound to the neck did not affect the carotid artery.
