Iranian state television stated that it has received a draft of an initial unofficial framework for a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US regarding the termination of the conflict between the countries. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.
Details
According to Iranian TV, the document provides for the restoration of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within one month. Simultaneously, the US must withdraw its military forces from areas near Iran and end the naval blockade.
The draft also stipulates that Iran will control the movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz in cooperation with Oman, while warships will not be subject to the agreements. Tehran emphasized that the deal has not yet been finalized, and Iran will not take any steps without a "real verification" of the fulfillment of the conditions.
Iranian state television reported that the memorandum was the result of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington following the war that began in February. According to media reports, Pakistan acted as a mediator in the contacts between the parties.
Reuters recalls that the conflict broke out after an escalation between Iran and Israel, when the parties exchanged missile and drone strikes. This led to disruptions in shipping in the Persian Gulf and raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
