In Dnipro, three men attacked a volunteer who was collecting funds to purchase a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The perpetrators forcibly dragged him from his apartment, brutally beat him, and stole $11,000, which included money intended for the needs of the military. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, writes UNN.
Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, three members of the group have been notified of suspicion of robbery. Two of them are also charged with extortion
According to the investigation, the suspects learned that the volunteer had received funds to purchase a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They arrived at his residence, forcibly dragged the man from his apartment, brutally beat him, broke into the home, and seized $11,000, which included money for the purchase of a car for the military, as well as jewelry worth about UAH 100,000.
Among the suspects is a previously convicted resident of Pavlohrad, who, according to the investigation, has connections in the criminal underworld.
After the attack, two of the suspects began demanding another $10,000 from the victim, allegedly for a non-existent debt. Over the course of several months, they threatened the man with violence and demanded money. One of the suspects was detained during the transfer of funds.
During eight searches in Dnipro, law enforcement officers seized money, mobile phones, and other physical evidence.
All three have been notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and two of them also under Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. One of the suspects is in custody without the right to bail, a request for a preventive measure is being considered for another, and one is already in custody in another criminal proceeding.
