Greece, which plans to liquidate part of its aircraft fleet, may transfer more than 30 F-16 fighters to Ukraine . This was reported by UNN with reference to News Break.
Details
According to the publication, the Greek government plans to sell 108 fighters to be decommissioned (32 F-16C/-D Block 30, 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk. 2 and 33 F-4E PI2000).
According to journalists, the committee approved the sale of fighter jets and related and peripheral equipment (spare parts, simulators, instruments and materials), which was estimated at 117 million euros, last year.
However, the sale has not taken place, and the condition of the fighters in open storage is constantly deteriorating. It is noted that the cost of 108 fighters may be approximately 2 to 2.5 billion euros.
The 32 F-16C/D Block 30s, whose transfer to Ukraine is virtually certain, are another matter entirely. Recall that during their service, fighters of this type have undergone two design upgrades and have now spent an average of about 60 percent of their service life
Addendum
In addition, the publication says that there are still 24 Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2 in Greece, of which 14 are newly built and the rest are modernized Mirage 2000EGM/-BGMs.
It is possible that they could be sold to Ukraine or India, but this requires permission from France.
Recall
The Ukrainian Air Force said that several groups of Ukrainian pilots are being trained in different countries to fly F-16s. Two advanced groups in Denmark and the United States are already honing their skills on F-16s.
