Former federal prosecutor Jessica Aber was found dead.
Alexandria police confirmed that officers responded to a call early Saturday morning. Law enforcement officers arrived at a house on Beverly Drive in the Washington, D.C. suburb around 9:18 a.m. on Saturday on a report of a woman who was not responding to a call, according to a police statement. They found Aber dead inside. The cause of death has not yet been reported.
Jessica Aber gradually climbed the career ladder in the Ministry of Justice, eventually becoming one of the few women who ever headed the prestigious Eastern District of Virginia, known in legal circles as EDVA.
The district is no ordinary mail, as it covers Northern Virginia, the Pentagon, Langley, the Port of Norfolk, and the federal power corridors in Richmond.
This is the nerve center of legal activity related to terrorism, espionage, state corruption and corporate crime.
As U.S. Attorney General, Aber led a team of approximately 300 lawyers and staff, prosecuting some of the nation's most sensitive and serious cases.
