Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Pyongyang for his first visit in seven years and held talks with Choe Son Hui. The parties discussed international and regional issues, but specific topics were not disclosed.

According to agencies, the parties also agreed to strengthen strategic communication between their foreign policy agencies.
The visit took place ahead of US President Donald Trump's planned visit to Beijing for a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Despite traditionally close relations, ties between the countries have undergone changes in recent years amid increased cooperation between the DPRK and Russia. At the same time, the parties continue to demonstrate their intention to strengthen partnership, particularly after the resumption of transport links, which were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.
