For the first time, Ukraine has approved unified rules for transporting animals on buses. The Ministry of Development clarified what they entail, UNN writes.

The rules were developed jointly with UAnimals. They concern transportation in intercity and international bus services.
"This is the first time that unified requirements for the conditions of animal transportation on buses have been established," the ministry emphasized.
How to transport animals
New rules define the specifics of transporting animals of different sizes and weights:
- small animals (weighing up to 10 kg) - dogs, cats, ornamental birds, rodents - must be transported in special containers, cages, or bags with an absorbent bottom. Such an animal is allowed to be placed on hands, under the seat, or on a separate seat, provided that this seat is purchased at the adult passenger fare;
- medium and large dogs (10-45 kg) are transported only with a muzzle and on a leash. The passenger is obliged to purchase all adjacent seats in the same row and place the animal on the floor on a special mat. It is forbidden to use the seat for placing the animal. At the same time, no more than one pet or two, if accompanied by one person, are allowed to be transported in the cabin;
- dogs weighing over 45 kg can only be transported according to the carrier's specific conditions in specially equipped transport;
- guide dogs accompanying persons with disabilities are transported free of charge, without purchasing seats, with a muzzle and on a short leash - next to the person they are accompanying.
In all cases, a veterinary document is mandatory.

The government's decision comes into force after official publication. The approved rules are mandatory for all carriers providing domestic and international bus passenger transportation.
