The President of Ukraine has signed a law regulating the work of courts in the absence of judges. The law establishes the procedure for appointing a temporary acting chief of staff of a court and will facilitate the effective functioning of the judicial system.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law on the organization of the work of courts. UNN reports this with reference to the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The law will regulate some issues of court organization and create proper conditions for their functioning.

Main points:

  • establishes the procedure for appointing a temporary acting chief of staff of a court in the absence of judges administering justice;
  • He or she will be vested with the powers of the head of the court in relations with other state authorities, local self-government bodies, individuals and legal entities.
  • The law will contribute to more efficient functioning of courts and ensure their smooth operation, in particular in situations where judges administering justice are temporarily absent.
