Restoration work on the stretch between Demiivska and Lybidska stations on the blue line of the Kyiv metro is in its final stages: construction of a new section of the tunnel is complete, rails are being laid, and traffic is expected to resume in early fall, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Thursday, UNN reports.
Restoration work on the section between Demiivska and Lybidska metro stations is in its final stage. (...) Before the full resumption of traffic, trial runs of trains will be carried out, as well as a thorough check of all traffic safety systems. We are doing everything to resume train traffic on the section in early fall
According to him, they started filling the pit with soil today. Prior to that, the pit was filled with a special cement mixture around the renovated section of the tunnel and three levels of its supports were almost dismantled. The mayor noted that landscaping work will soon be carried out at the construction site.
Restoration work continues around the clock, Klitschko emphasized.
"The day before, specialists completed construction of a new 27-meter-long section of the tunnel. They also reinforced the sections adjacent to it on both sides (with a total length of more than 50 meters). Work is now nearing completion on laying a new rail bed. All the necessary cable networks are being restored in the tunnel and a contact rail is being installed to supply voltage," said Klitschko.
