Umerov: Ukraine is ready to invest in joint defense enterprises with the US

Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov expressed his readiness to invest in defense companies and buy American-made weapons directly with the United States.
Ukraine may invest in joint defense ventures with the United States and directly purchase weapons from American companies. This was stated by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov at a meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien, who is on a visit to Kyiv, UNN reports citing the Defense Ministry press service.

As noted, two international forums with the participation of dozens of foreign companies were held in Kyiv and Washington, D.C., to localize defense production in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is currently focused on developing military innovations, including the production and procurement of drones of various modifications.
At the meeting, Rustem Umerov emphasized that Ukraine is ready to co-invest in joint defense enterprises and directly purchase weapons and equipment from American companies.
The Minister also thanked for the enormous and regular assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine, which is extremely important for the country.
Umerov told O'Brien about his priorities for his 100 days as minister, including the fight against corruption, transparent procurement, and the production of new weapons. Another priority of the Defense Ministry was to conduct a financial audit under the leadership of Deputy Minister Yuriy Dzhyhyr.
He also informed about the launch of the State Logistics Operator as a key part of the new procurement architecture.
