The United States welcomes diplomatic efforts by other countries to end the war in Ukraine, but emphasizes the need for consultations with the Ukrainian side. The White House believes that if the Indian prime minister's visit to Kyiv can help end the war, which is in line with Zelenskyy's vision, it would be helpful.
The United States supports diplomatic efforts by other countries to end the war in Ukraine and emphasizes that they should include talking to Ukrainians. If the Indian Prime Minister's Narendra Modi visit to Kyiv can help end the war, which is in line with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's vision, it would be helpful. This was stated by White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby at a briefing on August 23, UNN reports.

He noted that "each country must decide for itself what kind of diplomatic negotiations it will conduct.
"And as I've said many, many times, when it comes to the war in Ukraine, if there is another country that is willing to help in trying to end the war in Ukraine, we welcome that. But, by help, we mean that it has to include talking to Ukrainians, and it has to start with understanding where President Zelenskiy is on this issue," Kirby said.
"So, Prime Minister Modi - India is a strong partner for the United States, and so is the prime minister. And, you know, him going to Kyiv and talking to President Zelenskiy about where and how this is going to end - if that can help us bring an end to the conflict that is consistent with President Zelenskiy's vision of a just peace, well, then we think that would be helpful," Kirby said.
