The Special Operations Center "Alpha" of the SBU celebrates 32 years. The unit leads the ranking in destroying Russian manpower and equipment using drones.

On June 23, the Special Operations Center "Alpha" of the Security Service of Ukraine celebrates the 32nd anniversary of its creation. According to the SBU, the unit is one of the most effective within the Defense Forces of Ukraine and has been leading the ranking for the last three months in terms of destroying enemy personnel and equipment using drones, writes UNN.

As reported by the Acting Head of the SBU, Major General Yevhenii Khmara, special forces of the Center carry out tasks both on the front line and deep behind enemy lines.
"The Russians regularly have 'cotton' burning, and on the line of combat contact, the number of living occupiers is steadily decreasing, and their damaged equipment burns daily. The unit accounts for up to 20% of all enemy infantry losses,"
According to the SBU, fighters of the CSO "Alpha" operate at tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
The unit reports thousands of enemy targets hit
As of June 2026, the unit's special forces have hit 1,896 tanks, 3,458 armored combat vehicles, 344 multiple launch rocket systems, 3,952 artillery systems, and 649 air defense systems.
The SBU also reported hitting 540 electronic warfare and reconnaissance systems, as well as 23,517 enemy drones and ground robotic complexes.
The agency noted that the unit participates in strikes on strategic facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation. Among the targets named by the SBU are the Moscow Oil Refinery, the Tamanneftegaz terminal, the gas terminal in the port of Temryuk, the infrastructure of the port of Ust-Luga, and the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery.
Operators of the CSO "Alpha" also took part in the special operation "Spider Web," during which, according to the SBU, 41 Russian aircraft were hit, and the damage caused is estimated at over $7 billion.
According to the SBU, during the full-scale war, 25 servicemen of the Center have received the title of Hero of Ukraine, and over a thousand fighters have been awarded state honors.
The CSO "Alpha" of the SBU continues to carry out combat missions 24/7 and prepare new special operations against the enemy.
