In the first half of 2024, the number of individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine decreased by 54% - almost 92,000 individual entrepreneurs were closed, and the number of registered companies decreased by 15% - more than 1,500 companies ceased operations.

YouControl experts estimate that the closure of sole proprietorships in Ukraine has increased by 54%, and that of companies by 15%.

In the first half of 2024, almost 92 thousand sole proprietorships were closed in Ukraine. The increase in the closure of sole proprietorships was 54% compared to the same period in 2023. The rate of company closures also increased by 15% - more than 1.5 thousand companies ceased operations in the first half of 2024

Kyiv is the leader among the regions where the largest number of individual entrepreneurs has been registered. More than 12,000 sole proprietorships were closed there. In other regions, the number of closures of individual entrepreneurs is much lower:

  • Kharkiv - 5.3 thousand;
  • Odesa - 3.8 thousand;
  • Dnipro - 3.3 thousand;
  • Lviv - 2.8 thousand.

Among the communities, the leaders with the largest number of closed sole proprietorships were: Kryvyi Rih (Dnipro region) - 1.4 thousand, Kremenchuk (Poltava region) - 780, and Bila Tserkva (Kyiv region) - almost 600.

Statistics show that men closed 4% more sole proprietorships than women: more than 44 thousand (48%) of sole proprietorships were closed by women, and 47.7 thousand (52%) by men.

The largest number of sole proprietorships were closed in the retail trade sector - more than 29 thousand (an increase in closures compared to 2023 was 44.8%), information technology - almost 16 thousand (65.9%), and other services - 9.7 thousand (60.8%).

The leading sectors in terms of the number of closed companies were wholesale trade (194 companies), real estate (148) and construction (95)
