The government has adopted a resolution that launches the introduction of specialists to support war veterans. The first specialists will start working in the fall, providing individualized support to veterans and their families in various areas of life.

The government has adopted a resolution that launches the introduction of specialists to support war veterans and demobilized persons in their transition from military service to civilian life. It is planned that the first specialists will start working in the fall. UNN reports this with reference to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

The resolution reportedly defines, in particular, requirements for candidates, organization of their professional training, working conditions and other criteria.

The call for applications for these positions will be announced shortly.

We plan to have the first support specialists start working in the fall. Each specialist will apply an individual approach. On average, they will handle up to 35 cases

The specialist will take care of: 

  • war veterans;
  • persons with special services to the Motherland;
  • affected participants of the Revolution of Dignity;
  • family members of such category of persons;
  • family members of a deceased war veteran;
  • family members of the fallen (deceased) Defender and the fallen (deceased) Defender of Ukraine;
  •  demobilized. 

According to Oleksandr Porkhun, a support specialist is the first person to meet a veteran upon returning to the community. They provide information and support, advise on obtaining statuses, benefits, services, housing, rehabilitation, employment, starting a business, and provide legal assistance. 

Addendum

A citizen of Ukraine or a citizen of Ukraine who has veteran status and has at least a bachelor's degree in a field of study can become a veteran support specialist: Education/Pedagogy, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Law, Healthcare, Social Work, Public Administration and Management. 

Candidates for the position apply electronically through the e-Veteran platform .
