According to the WMO, in 2024, global temperatures could exceed the 1.5°C limit from pre-industrial levels. The conclusion is based on the analysis of data for the first 9 months of this year.

Roberta Boscolo, Head of Climate and Energy at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), shared an alarming forecast based on data collected in the first nine months of this year.

Judging by the preliminary data we have available from January to September, it is likely that the average global temperature in 2024 will exceed 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels

- said the WMO expert, speaking via video link to the General States of the “green” economy at the Ecomondo exhibition in Rimini.
