"At night, Russia attacked a dry cargo vessel belonging to Turkey in the Black Sea. And it did so immediately after a high-level Turkish visit to Russia. A clear demonstration that Russia's words cannot be trusted. Russia remains the main threat to the security and prosperity of the Black Sea," - wrote Foreign Minister Sybiha on X.
Sybiha noted that the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine rescued the crew – citizens of Turkey and India. "Unfortunately, as a result of this attack, one of the crew members, a citizen of Egypt, died," the minister said. "Russia also attacked two more vessels under the flags of Palau and Belize. They sustained damage, but their crews were not injured."
"We inform all states and organizations about this brazen attack on international law and freedom of navigation. It requires a decisive and principled response from the international community and the International Maritime Organization," Sybiha emphasized.
Let us add, with a visit to Russia on June 16-17, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan was present.
