A foreign dry cargo vessel came under attack from an enemy drone, resulting in a massive fire and casualties among the crew. The Ukrainian Navy conducted a rescue operation, the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Monday on social media, writes UNN.
As a result of the attack by an enemy UAV, a large-scale fire broke out on the dry cargo vessel VICTRESS (shipowner Turkey, flag Panama). Nine crew members were on board: citizens of Egypt, Turkey, and India
As stated, the Navy rescued the crew of a foreign vessel after an enemy attack.
"Given the difficult situation and the threat of the fire spreading further, the crews of the boats of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully conducted a rescue operation to evacuate the crew of the dry cargo vessel. Unfortunately, there are casualties among them," the Navy noted.
As emphasized by the Navy, "this incident once again demonstrates that the Russian Federation continues to violate the norms of international maritime law and pose threats to civilian shipping."
