Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina came to the Wimbledon quarterfinals match with a mourning ribbon in honor of the Ukrainians killed by Russian missile attacks, UNN reports, citing the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NOC.
In the match to reach the 1/4 finals of Wimbledon, Elina won a convincing victory over China's Xin Yu Wang - 6-2, 6-1.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina came to the Wimbledon court with a black ribbon. In this way, she paid tribute to the Ukrainians who died as a result of Russian missile attacks on July 8, 2024.
During the post-match interview , Elina Svitolina could not hold back her tears.
"It was a really good performance today. But it was a difficult day for the Ukrainians. It was not easy to focus on the match. It was very difficult to read the news in the morning, it was extremely difficult to go out on the court. So I'm glad I played like that and won," Svitolina said.
